Magnus in Cologne

For the first time we ordered waffles there, after half an hour of waiting, comb the waffle without cream what we ordered and what we later found out while eating it wasn't baked through :( plus 2 raspberries and both moldy, never again! Would be very good happy to show a photo, but unfortunately I can't.

I was very surprised the food was unexpectedly good, drinks fresh and tasty coffee and juice, background music - very pleasant. Will eat there again soon.

A must for the Cologne student scene and the small budget. You will definitely get full My advice: smaller portions and better quality food.

The breakfast was delicious unfortunately we had to ask twice for our smoothie, which was part of the breakfast. The third time I asked it said it was empty and she didn't know how to make new ones. There was no juice as an alternative, it would cost extra. When I said when paying, it's a shame that the smoothie was empty and we didn't get an alternative, only an annoyed 'yes no sorry' came and she was gone. In any case, the store has nothing to do with service

Good place for good food.

Here you can eat very well and the cocktails are usually good. Now the prices are too high. I was happy to be able to eat there more often but I will not. My favorite cocktail was watery.

The coffee was delicious, but asking for a canteen roll with two small slices of cheese, a little turkey and a quarter of avocado € 6.50 is cheeky. The Menemen tasted of everything except Menemen. Somewhat overpriced for such simple dishes.

Large amount for what you pay. Pretty tasty and friendly staff. Good for when it is sunny

Cafe Magnus is always worth a visit! Great atmosphere, very friendly service! And very tasty dishes: salads, pasta, pizzas: I can recommend everything! And large portions so that you get full !! And very good wine list! And WiFi for guests! Many thanks from Klaus

Rich breakfast at an affordable price. When the weather is nice, you can also sit outside if the traffic doesn't bother you. Unfortunately, because of Corona, no Sunday brunch.

Cozy shop and not so crowded compared to the other bars on the Zülpicher. You can have a good conversation and the service is great too. Food also tastes good and portions are just right!

The restaurant refused to accept any of my cards (Master, Maestro and Visa - all EU) because they are not German. The waitress did not let me approach the point of sale terminal and apply my card. She physically removed the machine from me when she saw my cards were foreign. She said they accept only German cards and that I need to give them cash. I said I don’t have cash, and she said it is the only way I can pay and that I need to get cash somewhere the same night, although it was very late and she saw I had luggage. I ordered in English and it was clear I am a foreigner. While ordering, I asked if I can pay by card and the waiters said yes, yet they didn’t warn me that they don’t accept foreign cards, even EU. All other bars and restaurants in Germany accept international cards. The management should solve this issue either by accepting non-German cards like everyone else does, or warn the customer in advance that only German cards are accepted. This visit put me in a very uncomfortable and unpleasant position and I wouldn’t recommend this place to foreigners.

Very nice service, very good prices. Eat mass instead of class. Instead of 2 burgers, choose one with good meat.

Today I met some friends for a Sunday brunch at Cafe Restaurant Magnus. I highly recommend Magnus. Very friendly attentive team, wait staff, who take care of the guests very nice. I can highly recommend the cold cuts together with the glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Everything the heart desired. Fish, cheese, various salads, vegetables, cold meats, dessert, cakes. Great, I'm totally excited. Here I like to go again.

Order king prawns from the menu and you'll get a pair of small shrimp ((( The homemade lemonade 0.5 L consists of 70% ice cubes. Half a glass was generously poured on request. The service was very helpful.

Very nice bar, the music is not as obnoxiously loud as in most other bars. Nice place to go with friends.

Unfortunately very unfriendly host. Wanted to eat something and had a Wegbier here. Drinking it out quickly to eat and drink afterwards was not possible despite the empty side tables. We were scared away from the outside area. Apparently they can afford to treat customers this way. 🤷🏼♀️ very, very sad. Unfortunately I can not say anything about the food, but the customer is definitely not king.

Cafe / bar / restaurant with the possibility to brunch on Sunday until 15 o'clock for 12 EUR. We chose the map and were not disappointed. From pizza, pasta, salad and burgers for everyone. In addition, there is just an asparagus card. Our order: corn salad with stir-fried asparagus, penne and sweet potato fritters was served hot, tasted fresh and delicious. Nice service and fair price-performance ratio. And despite the brunch time at 12 o'clock the cafe was not overcrowded, so we without reservation for five people easily got a table.

Magnus is an awesome place to have lunch on a warm, sunny day. The salads are tasty., the prices are good.

The food came very quickly and despite a very full restaurant the waiters were really rushed and we did not have to wait long for anything. It was also delicious. However, the restaurant is a bit rocked down. You could invest something here and there.

A place with several cocktail choices and finger food. Would recommend their nachos and dips, if hungry after a long night of drinking!

Toller Brunch!

Friendly service, fast preparation time. Food was bad: not tasty and fat.

I went there with a couple of friends on a Saturday night. I ordered a drink, which had no alcohol in it at all, but the worst part was that the service was very rude. I ordered TAP water and when the bill came they made me pay 2.80€ for that glass of water, claiming that it came from a bottle. And of course I never saw the bottle. So let’s say they just ruined my day, since of course it’s not for the almost 3 euros for a glass of water (which is unbelievable), but it’s more for the way I was treated as a customer. I will never go back there again.

Fast service. Reasonable quality

So ... I don't need anyone with "... the good old student days ..." or something like that. Since a star means "terrible" according to Google definition, I give two stars, the service was very friendly and got the second star for this shop ..... The food .... my wife had a casserole that consisted of 20 % Pasta and 80% cheese ... And my citizen was among others topped me with a fried egg ... at first I thought it was bacon because it was so brown and tough ... there was also ketchup in plastic portion packs that didn't order (you might think there was ketchup with French fries) but added to the bill was set. But worst of all was the butter with the pizza rolls .... which tasted like it looked at least halfway stretched with margarine .... No .. I won't go here anymore.

Great place to have brunch in, very friendly staff. Atmosphere is great and there are a lot of food options to choose from, including dessert.

Very happy with my experience at Magnus, somehow it was the only sort of empty place around while every other bar in the area was very full. The staff were really friendly, observant and quick with everything. Prices are ok.

decent food, big portions. charge almost 3€ for each glass of tap water though.

Good place to get a cheap lunch if you don't always want to go to the Mensa as a student.

There lunch menu is a deal breaker, good food and very reasonable price. Atmosphere is really nice with sitting place inside and outside

I never ate here, but I regularly have some drinks in this bar. Cocktails are really good, especially ones with basilium

Really awesome place :)!!! Stopped there unexpected since we got stuck in traffic and decided to just go eat somewhere till the traffic went down... Customer service were just perfect; very friendly and nice smiling staff , loved it! Pizza and cocktails are awesome as well ! Thank you for the great experience and we will surely come again !

Average to good on every weekday but highly recommended for their affordable but opulent sunday brunch
